General Terms and Ticketing Conditions

Leipzig Tango Festival

These General Terms and Ticketing Conditions apply to registrations, the purchase of admission tickets, and participation in the Leipzig Tango Festival and in all events held as part of the festival.

By completing a booking or purchasing a ticket, the participant accepts these Terms as part of the contractual relationship.

The content of the Leipzig Tango Festival website, including in particular texts, photographs, graphics, videos, audio recordings and other media, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.

Where artists, DJs, musicians, teachers or other contributors provide photographs, texts, audio, video or other material for the presentation and promotion of the festival, all respective rights shall, unless otherwise agreed, remain with the relevant authors, performers or other rights holders.

Any reproduction, adaptation, publication, distribution or other use of such content beyond the extent permitted by applicable law requires the prior consent of the respective rights holder.

The organiser reserves the right to update, amend, supplement or remove website content at any time.

Tickets and festival passes may be purchased through the booking channels made available on the festival website.

A registration or booking request constitutes an offer by the prospective participant to enter into a contract with the organiser. There is no entitlement to acceptance of a registration or booking request.

A binding contract is formed only upon express confirmation of the booking or participation by the organiser or, where expressly provided for in the booking process, upon confirmation and receipt of full payment.

The organiser reserves the right to reject booking requests where there are reasonable grounds to do so. Further details are set out in particular in Clause 11 below.

All information provided during registration must be complete and accurate.

The Leipzig Tango Festival aims to maintain, as far as reasonably possible, a balanced ratio between the dance roles of Leader and Follower.

Individual registrations may therefore initially be placed on a waiting list until a corresponding registration in the complementary dance role becomes available.

Registrations will generally be processed in the order in which they are received. The organiser may depart from this principle where reasonably necessary in order to maintain an appropriate balance of dance roles and to ensure the proper conduct of the event.

Where two participants register together as a dance couple, each participant may be required to register separately and to identify the other participant in the registration process.

Participation is confirmed only after the organiser has expressly confirmed the booking and, where applicable, full payment has been received.

5. Prices and Payment

The prices displayed on the website at the time of booking shall apply.

All prices are stated in euros and include any taxes and charges required by law, where applicable.

The available payment methods will be communicated during the booking process or in the relevant payment request.

Payment must be made within the payment period specified by the organiser. If payment is not received in due time, the organiser may cancel the reservation and allocate the place to another participant.

Under German law, there is generally no statutory right of withdrawal in respect of contracts for services relating to leisure activities where the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance.

Accordingly, once a binding contract has been concluded, the purchase of a ticket is generally final.

The cancellation and refund arrangements set out below are granted voluntarily by the organiser in addition to any mandatory statutory rights.

A cancellation must be submitted to the organiser in writing or by email.

For the Leipzig Tango Festival commencing on 20 May 2027, the following voluntary refund conditions apply:

Cancellations received on or before 20 March 2027:
80% of the ticket price paid will be refunded.

Cancellations received from 21 March up to and including 20 April 2027:
50% of the ticket price paid will be refunded.

Cancellations received on or after 21 April 2027:
No voluntary refund will generally be available.

The relevant date shall be the date on which the cancellation notice is received by the organiser.

Any mandatory statutory rights to reimbursement shall remain unaffected.

Refunds will generally be made via the same payment method used for the original transaction.

To the extent legally permissible, actual non-refundable payment processing, bank or transaction fees may be deducted from the refundable amount.

Tickets and festival passes may be personalised.

A transfer of a ticket to another person may be requested no later than two weeks before the start of the festival.

Any transfer requires the prior approval of the organiser.

Where a booking was accepted taking into account the Leader/Follower balance, approval of a transfer may be made conditional upon the replacement participant assuming the same dance role.

There is no entitlement to approval of a ticket transfer.

The commercial resale of tickets, or resale for profit, is prohibited.

Where two participants have registered together as a dance couple, the cancellation or amendment of one booking may affect the registration of the other participant if this would significantly disturb the intended balance of dance roles.

In such cases, the organiser will, where reasonably possible, contact the affected participants and seek an appropriate solution.

The Leipzig Tango Festival is intended to provide a respectful, enjoyable and safe environment for all participants, artists, staff and other contributors.

All participants are therefore required to respect the personal boundaries of others and to behave in a considerate and responsible manner.

Harassment, threats, violence, aggressive behaviour, serious disruption of the event, discriminatory conduct or any other conduct that is unreasonable or unacceptable in the circumstances will not be tolerated.

Instructions issued by the organiser, festival staff and the operators of the relevant venues must be followed.

The organiser, or persons authorised by the organiser, shall exercise the organiser’s domiciliary rights and house rules in connection with the Leipzig Tango Festival.

The organiser reserves the right, where justified by reasonable grounds, to reject a registration or booking request, to refuse an individual access to one or more festival events, or to exclude an individual from further participation.

Such grounds may exist in particular where, on the basis of concrete circumstances, it can reasonably be expected that the presence or conduct of a person may:

• materially impair the safe, peaceful or orderly conduct of the event;
• materially affect the well-being, safety or legitimate interests of participants, artists, staff or other contributors;
• give rise to serious personal conflicts within the event;
• create a specific risk of harassment, threats, confrontation or other serious disruption; or
• where serious disturbances, boundary violations or comparable incidents have occurred in the past in connection with events or with persons involved in the event.

In such circumstances, the organiser may, after due consideration of the relevant facts and circumstances of the individual case, exercise its domiciliary rights. This may include issuing a temporary or permanent exclusion from individual events or from the festival as a whole.

Any such decision shall serve, in particular, to protect the safe, respectful and orderly conduct of the event and must not be based on any ground prohibited by applicable law.

Where a registration has not yet been accepted, there shall be no entitlement to the conclusion of a participation contract.

Where access is refused before the commencement of the festival after a binding contract has already been formed, and the reason for refusal is not attributable to misconduct or otherwise to the responsibility of the person concerned, the ticket price paid will generally be refunded.

Where, by contrast, access is refused or a participant is excluded due to serious misconduct for which that person is responsible, or due to a material breach of these Terms, any refund may be excluded or reduced to an appropriate extent, insofar as permitted by law.

Any mandatory statutory rights shall remain unaffected.

The organiser reserves the right to make changes to the festival programme, timetable, individual venues or announced contributors for objective, organisational or operational reasons.

This includes, in particular, changes involving DJs, orchestras, musicians, teachers or other artists.

Reasonable and non-material programme changes shall not, as a general rule, give rise to a right to reimbursement of the ticket price.

Any mandatory statutory rights shall remain unaffected.

If the festival is cancelled in its entirety, ticket prices already paid will be reimbursed in accordance with applicable statutory provisions.

In the event of postponement or a material change to the event, affected participants will be informed as early as reasonably possible.

Any statutory rights of withdrawal, termination or reimbursement shall remain unaffected.

Photographs and video recordings may be made during the festival for documentation, public relations and festival communications purposes.

All such recordings and their use will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection, privacy and personality rights legislation.

Where consent is legally required for particular recordings or uses, such consent will be obtained separately.

Further information may be provided in the festival’s privacy notice or in specific notices displayed or communicated during the event.

The organiser shall have unlimited liability for death, personal injury or damage to health resulting from an intentional or negligent breach of duty by the organiser, its legal representatives or persons engaged by the organiser in the performance of its obligations.

For other loss or damage, the organiser shall be liable in accordance with applicable statutory law, in particular in cases of intent and gross negligence.

Any further limitation of liability shall apply only to the extent permitted by law.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, the organiser assumes no duty of safekeeping in respect of personal belongings brought to the event by participants.

Participants are responsible for taking appropriate account of the ordinary risks associated with dancing and physical activity.

Personal data will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection law.

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, subject to any mandatory consumer protection provisions that may apply.

Nothing in these General Terms and Ticketing Conditions shall exclude or restrict any mandatory statutory rights of participants.

If any provision of these Terms is or becomes wholly or partially invalid or unenforceable, the legal consequences shall be governed by applicable statutory law. The validity of the remaining provisions shall, in principle, remain unaffected.
